My story at LEONI
My name is Vera and I have been working for LEONI since March 2021. I started at LEONI as a working student in Human Resources Marketing in Germany. My tasks include matters pertaining to HR and marketing, such as organizing and post-processing in-house and external events, designing and revising promotional literature, drafting social media posts, and organizing job interviews.
In the middle of all this, an exciting topic for my master's dissertation developed, which I was fortunate enough to write one day a week as part of my working student activity at LEONI. The subject of my master's dissertation was the potential of Instagram as a human resources marketing tool.
When I completed my master’s degree in May 2022 and my working student position was gradually coming to an end, my manager approached me and offered me various options to continue my career at LEONI. This led to my career start in June 2022 in the Global Talent Acquisition department, with a focus on employer branding, career websites, and social media.
My job
I work in Global Talent Acquisition at LEONI in Nuremberg. In this role, my team and I have a governance function and support the various countries in which LEONI operates in their recruiting and talent acquisition activities by providing guidelines, templates, and standards to attract and retain the best talent for LEONI. Due to our highly project-based way of working, my day-to-day work is very diverse and is shaped by the specific priorities and support needs of each country.
The projects I work on and have worked on include, for example, the standardization of recruiting processes and standards across all countries, the further development of our global employer positioning, and the creation of a consistent employer brand to ensure LEONI is perceived uniformly worldwide. In this context, my responsibilities also include creating, publishing, and analyzing social media posts for our global Facebook and LinkedIn channels. In addition, I contribute to the continuous development of our country-specific career websites, which I also played a key role in setting up.
What I find particularly exciting is that I can now look at employer branding and talent acquisition from a global perspective. During my time as a working student, I gained valuable insights into German recruiting and HR marketing. This experience provided an ideal foundation for starting my career. I also still maintain a close connection with my former working student department in German recruiting. We continue to collaborate closely, with us defining global guidelines and standards that are then implemented operationally in Germany.
My highlights
The best moment was probably the fact that my master’s dissertation and start at LEONI went so smoothly! Being able to start your career seamlessly, directly after your degree, without having to compose dozens of applications, that was a huge relief. In addition, I knew the team and some of the duties, and I was certain that the work culture and corporate values matched mine. And it was fantastic to know that my own performance was valued and seen, and that LEONI is interested in my development – as well as that of the other employees.
Another highlight was the trip with our entire team to the Social Recruitment Days in Berlin: an event where in two days we learned an incredible amount about active sourcing, employer branding and social recruitment – giving us more than enough inspiration for the coming year.
My view of LEONI as an employer
Despite the size of the company, I experience LEONI’s atmosphere as very family-oriented. Great importance is placed on enabling employees to take on responsibility quickly and work independently on projects, without being limited by micromanagement or constant oversight.
The active support of young talent creates a strong sense of appreciation right from the start. Flexible working hours and mobile working options, as well as membership in IG Metall, offer additional benefits such as extra vacation days, bonus payments, and centralized salary agreements. This allows me to balance my personal life and work very well, and I truly appreciate having found this work-life balance in my very first full-time job.
The central location in Nuremberg, with short distances and excellent access to public transportation, also contributes to an overall positive work experience.
In summary, the few words I would use to describe LEONI are appreciative, flexible, and international.
